I loved, loved, loved this book! I loved it so much, I went back and got the first one and I hope to get the second one. It has everything you need. Love, suspense, intrigue, faith, danger, mystery, and excitement. I listened to it on audible and hated to get out of the car because I had to pause where I was to get out of the car. REALLY enjoyed all three books,there was not a thing I didn't like MAYBE that I would have liked a fourth book!
I liked the story well enough, but I could do with a little less graphic sex descriptions..... to each his/her own though....
The story kept my interest throughout. While the author does use rather blunt, explicit sexual terms, overall the characters were interesting and well developed. This book was my introduction to this author and I liked the story enough to purchase another of her books in this series.
Everyone has something in their past they would like to forget, for Sara it's the life she was forced to live after being sold into prostitution. After she escapes and arrives in White Pines, Sara assumes she will live with her brother for awhile until she can find a job to support herself. However, upon her arrival, several misassumptions find her married to Caleb Young. After sometime together, Sara finds herself falling in love with her husband and thinking she as found a happy ending. Unfortunately, life is never that easy. Caleb's mail order bride shows up sometime later and Sara feels her happiness being threatened. Caleb, having fallen in love with his bride, considers the misassumptions that led to his marriage to Sara a gift from God. But, when Sara's past catches up them, can he forgive her for the life she had been forced to lead?
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. There is enough suspense to leave you wondering, can love truly conquer anything? Or can the past destroy the future?
I was really surprised by how much I liked Caleb after the previous book but he turned out to be a great guy. I really liked Sara a lot. I get tired of people in books thinking they have to keep these secrets to cause a big problem and I really wanted to slap Caleb there for a while but the way the story was weaved was very beautiful. I love the secondary characters too. Great book!
I'm so glad I found this remarkable book. I thought it was a Christian romance for some reason, but wow was I wrong. Thankfully I enjoy a little spice and this book has it. The best part is the depth of emotion. I came close to tears at the dark moment, which is done extremely well. Now I have to read the other two in this series. I've already downloaded them!
I just cannot give this one 5 stars. Although it was a good story between Caleb and Sara of how their love grew, there were characters from the previous books who played made appearances throughout thoses books and were either not mentioned at all as if they didn't exist in that town, or, like one in particular was noted by Sara her self as being a huge part of her life, was only mentioned once in the last few pages of this book. It may not be relevent to some, or a big deal to others, but had I not read "Saving Grace" or "Runaway" I would have said "who is this person and why were they not mentioned in the book yet are a said to be a big deal to the main character?" Overall the love that grew between the 2 main characters was definitely visible, and the forgivness of each others actions and words was powerful so it deserves a fair rating as such.
